Vintage Mission Sunday!

16.03.2017 - 04:47:28

Salute gentlemen! This week's Sunday Vintage Mission will see us in the La Vesle River region of France, NW of Reims - Summer 1917.
This a bomber offensive map, no recons necessary to activate targets, just full ahead and blow up the strategic targets on the map.
Heavy bombers will have to destroy enemy depots to prepare for the upcoming offensive. The more targets they can destroy, the better they will be prepared for the following battle. The first side that destroys all targets will have won this "bomber offensive"

We have run this mission before with no bugs or glitches (touching wood), and we are hoping to stress test the new server so all pilots are encouraged to dust off their flying kit, visit the mess for a bit of liquid breakfast and take to the skies over France to test their meddle.
We saw some fierce action in this sector last go around, and Entente was victorious. Rumor has it Richthofen's Circus has recently been sighted by some of the French escadrilles, with terrible results. Let's see what happens this Sunday! Good luck all, see you in the air!

Also, the stats are back up, due entirely to the tireless efforts of J2_SteveF! Go to: http://vintage-missions.net and register if you care to track your stats on Vintage Mission Sundays!

Greetings gentlemen, Salute!

This week's Sunday Vintage Mission will see us in the region of Vendin, October 1917.

The situation is as follows... The German army is using canal barges to get their supplies to the lines. This makes the transfer points a priority target for the Royal Flying Corps. RFC 46 squadron, which is just converting from Pups to Camels, are ordered to attack every ship between Don and Vendin. as well as trucks just behind the lines. 59 Sqn, flying the RE.8, has been ordered to destroy the transfer points, a fuel depot and train station, in Don and Vendin. RFC 40 Sqn with Se5as and RFC 11 with Bristols, will provide top cover.

Jasta 12 and 18 are stationed nearby and will be protecting their airspace in their Albatros DVa, Pfalz DIIIa and a handful of the new Fokker Dr1 scouts. The German Flieger Abteiling has been assigned various objectives: Photo recon objectives and two tactical ground targets; enemy artillery and vehicles east of Bethune.

Important: completing any of these objectives will unlock new Camels or Fokker Dr1s.

To complete the recon objective: Take a plane labeled "Recon", load a camera and fly to the objective area. The camera icon will pop up when over the target.

Wind is moderate, blowing from the North East, 4 - 5 m/s. Cloud base at 1250m. Some turbulance at lower altitudes.

Good luck all pilots, see you in the air!:salute:

Greetings gentlemen, Salute!

This Sunday's Vintage Mission will feature the historical Battle of the Somme Offensive - September 15, 1916
(Battle of Flers-Courcelette)

***NOTE!***: This is a subtitle based mission, therefore neither side will know what the other is up to and therefore no one can cap any specific target. New mission orders are issued every 45 minutes, however that DOES NOT mean you only have 45 min to complete the objective. If you are flying a mission objective and new orders are issued, it only means the new orders are ALSO in effect. The orders you are flying at the time still apply. Stated differently, each order subtitle that issues every 45 min simply activates another target/objective in addition to the previously issued one. Once orders have been given, that objective is able to be accomplished for the duration of the mission.

The plane sets do advance as objectives are completed.

Mission objectives:

Both sides will be given new orders in 45 min intervals. The Allied forces are on the offensive. Their air force has to support the ground troops by targeting tactical targets and flying photo recon patrols to determine the enemy defences. The Central forces are on the defensive. They have to make sure the Allied aircraft are kept away from the battlefield while the bombers attack the enemy's line of communications.

Orders will be repeated every minute by subtitles. Please follow these, you can't complete objectives until the order has been given! (note: you can't see subtitles in the hangar). Certain planes are only available when they are needed (bombers, recons).

Instructions Photo Recon: Fly over one of the specific areas just below the clouds in the aircraft named "Photo Recon" and wait for the camera icon when over the target. Don't forget to bring a camera!

Combat patrol: Patrol over the specified area, as marked on the map.

Close escort: Other two-seaters can provide close escort by flying in formation with the bombers or recon planes and defend with their rear guns. Ground attack: Low-level attacks against enemy positions, guns, vehicles and tanks.

Bomb target: Bomb the specified target from any altitude.

Weather report: Heavy cloud cover at 5000ft/1400m, foggy. Wind 4 m/s, from the North.

Historical Background: The Battle of Flers–Courcelette took place on 15 September 1916 as part of the Somme offensive and is most famous for the fact it was the first time tanks were deployed in a battle.

Good luck gentlemen!

Salute gentlemen!

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the start of the historical Bloody April - 1917 and since we are observing an Easter truce in Jasta5's official campaign, we will be

featuring the Syndicate Vintage Mission: Battle of Vimy Ridge, (Bloody April Revisited) April 10, 1917 on the Vintage Mission Server.

The Battle of Vimy Ridge was a military engagement fought primarily as part of the Battle of Arras, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of France, during the First

World War. The main combatants were the Canadian Corps, of four divisions, against three divisions of the German Sixth Army. The battle, which took place from 9 to

12 April 1917, was part of the opening phase of the British-led Battle of Arras, a diversionary attack for the French Nivelle Offensive.

Mission Start: Saturday April 15, 18:00 GMT

Weather report: Heavy clouds at 1500 m, poor visibility. Wind 5 m/s from the West

***NOTE!***: This is a subtitle based mission, therefore neither side will know what the other is up to and therefore no one can cap any specific target. New

mission orders are issued every 40 minutes, however that DOES NOT mean you only have 40 min to complete the objective. If you are flying a mission objective and new

orders are issued, it only means the new orders are ALSO in effect. The orders you are flying at the time still apply. Stated differently, each order subtitle that

issues every 40 min simply activates another target/objective in addition to the previously issued one. Once orders have been given, that objective is able to be

accomplished for the duration of the mission.

Mission objectives: Both sides will be given new orders in 40 min intervals.

The Allied forces are on the offensive. Their air force has to support the ground

troops by targeting tactical targets and flying photo recon patrols to determine the enemy defences.

The Central forces are on the defensive. They have to make sure the Allied aircraft are kept away from the battlefield while the bombers attack the enemy's line of

communications.

Orders will be repeated every minute by subtitles. Please follow these, you can't complete objectives until the order has been given! (note: you can't see subtitles

in the hangar). Certain planes are only available when they are needed (bombers, recons).Instructions Photo Recon: Fly to one of the specific areas at medium to high

altitude (2000-3500m) in the aircraft named "Photo Recon" and wait for the camera icon when over one end of the leg. Make photos using the camera icon and cover the

whole area. The higher you fly, the easier it is to have complete coverage. Don't forget to bring a camera!

All are welcome, no offical rules or points, lets just pack the server, group up, wing up and have some good fights and good times!.

Gentlemen, as we fly and fight, let us also remember for a moment, and attempt to appreciate the experience and service the pilots, mechanics, observers, ground crew, and all the soldiers rendered during the Great War, a century ago.

Good luck gentlemen!

Salute gentlemen!

This Sunday's Vintage Mission will see us in the Somme River region - September 1918

Battle for Intelligence - September 1918

Location: Somme river, France.

Mission objectives: Both Allied and Central Squadrons are ordered to:

(1) Fly offensive patrols over enemy lines to intercept enemy aircraft and

(2) to protect their own reconaissance aircraft.

Both AI and human flown reconaissance two-seaters will have to photograph strategic targets. The more photographs they can bring home safely, the better they will be prepared for the upcoming offensive. The first side that obtains 100 photographs will have won this "battle for intelligence". Any marked target on the map may be used to obtain more photos. Photographs can be taken by the two-seaters (with camera!) from any altitude between 1500-4000 m.

Note: Once a target is photographed and photos returned to base, you can photo the same area again, all recon areas stay active during the whole map. The object is simply to photograph as many targets as possible and return them safely to base. First team to 100 frames completed wins. Most aircraft from the rear bases are airstarts (fighters and two-seaters)

Weather report: Cloud base at 1200m. Wind 5 meters per second, from the South.

Good luck to all S!

Salute gentlemen!

For all pilots, gunners, riggers and mechanics who find themselves missing the action over the skies of France due to the summer break of the great Flanders in Flames campaign, we issue an open invitation / reminder to all to join in the battle on Vintage Mission Sundays, over at the Cuban Syndicate Connection.

This Sunday will kick things off around 17:00GMT for a six hour mission that will take us back in time 100 years to Summer of 1917. The mission will be "Bombers Channel - Summer 1917" and features a great plane set and numerous naval and land targets, all well defended.

As always, the event is open format so feel free to come in anytime, team up and fly together organized or solo lone wolf style, use any and all teamspeak and remember fuel loads are unlocked so don't forget to click on your aircraft information tab in the hangar and check your aircraft's individual endurance time (based on 100% fuel) and plan accordingly.

Good luck gentlemen, hope to see you all in the air!
